Tryouts for the next season typically take place in July/August.
As a competitive soccer program, WSSC Travel focuses on development and competition. The Boys and Girls (NON-COED) travel teams compete within the Buffalo & Western New York Junior Soccer League (BWNYJSL) throughout Western New York.

Travel Uniform is a separate direct purchase from our Supplier.
Some teams may choose to participate in other leagues and/or tournaments. The cost for those leagues and/or tournaments would fall under what is called “Team Fees” and would be divided among participating players and paid directly to the Coach to cover the additional League and/or Tournament that the team has decided to participate in. If you have questions about possible team fees, please direct these questions to the coach for your team.
Indoor Practices begin in January at Sahlen’s Sports Park in Elma. (7070 Seneca St, Elma, NY 14059)
BWNYJSL League play begins in May and typically runs through the end of July (sometimes the first week of August). Actual Game Dates will vary and are determined by the BWNYJSL, but the games will always be on the same day of play. It is possible that if a game must be rescheduled, the resceduled date could be different than the normal Day of Play.
BWNYJSL Day of Play will vary by age group and may be found on our League Schedule below.
All outdoor practices will be held at the West Seneca Soccer Complex.
Travel League Home Games will be held at the West Seneca Soccer Complex. (1/2 of the BWNYJSL games will be at home). Beginning in May, a typical week includes one practice at the West Seneca Soccer Complex and one game per week, which could be Home or Away. Some teams may choose to practice more frequently.
Some teams may continue to hold outdoor practices through the Fall and that would be inclusive of your Travel Registration Fee.
Should your player wish to play BOTH Travel and House, there are some things to consider.
You must be aware of the House Days of Play AND the Travel Day of Play. You should check with your Travel coach before you register for House to see what the plan is for practice and consider that it could conflict with some of the House sessions. Travel coaches have full autonomy of their own practice schedules and the club will not force them to practice on certain days to accommodate players who choose to play House.
The reason most coaches consider it to be good to play both House and Travel is because the stakes are pretty high in Travel, you only have 10 games and your playing against the best players from another town. During a Travel game, players may avoid trying anything new for fear that a mistake could be made and they could let down their team, so they tend to stick to doing the things that they are already good at. In house they’re playing many more games, and they’re against players who may have limited soccer experience, or who may not be as well conditioned and for a Travel Player who has been practicing at least weekly since January there should be plenty of opportunities to try something new to master that new skill at game speed across all the house games. The House practice sessions are an additional opportunity to practice and also beneficial, but really it’s the House games that improve the travel player the most.
Regardless of how well you plan, there will be conflicts. Generally families who choose to have their player play both Travel and House take the approach that if BOTH House and Travel practice conflict on a given day, they go to the Travel Practice, if Travel Practice conflicts with a House Game, they go to as much of the Travel Practice as they can and then go play their House Game. If a Travel Game conflicts with anything House, they do their best to do both, but the priority should always be the Travel Game.
